Hello my name is Sarah Kidd and I am one of the senior teachers here at Chelsea house. I live with my husband in Waikanae and enjoy arts and crafts. I have been working with children and their families for awhile now and received my qualification in 2003.
I am passionate about children reaching their full potential and that they have a true sense of who they are as a person and the valuable contribution they make to society. I see my role as an early childhood educator is to work closely with children building their self esteem and self worth. My other passion is working alongside fellow teachers and management developing and implementing effective quality programmes for children. I look forward to working alongside you and your family.
My name is Ailsa St Geroge I am a senior teacher at Levin I enjoy spending time with my family and going for walks and cooking.
I believe that all children should have the opportunity for quality education this enables them to learn and develop to their full potential. As an early childhood teacher I believe that it is my responsibility to create a supportive environment which encourages children to explore, question and learn.
I feel privileged to be part of this profession which enables me to not only support the children but the ultimate first educators, parent’s family and whanau.
I have been part of the great team at Chelsea House Since the opening of the centre 2008. My background extends from 22yrs Experience in All areas of Office Accounting Management.
I have always lived in Levin. My husband of 16 years and I have brought up my adult daughter and son, 2 adult stepsons, and together we also have a 6 year old son who has also attended Chelsea House from opening date. Life is always busy in our “brady-bunch home!
I have been very lucky to have had my son attend Chelsea house and as a parent I can highly recommend the balanced education from home and Chelsea to his achievements at school.
Please feel free to come and have a no obligation tour of our fantastic Centre!
Kia Ora, My name is Lauren and I am a teacher in both Kowhai and Pohutukawa classrooms. I come from Foxton but have recently moved to Levin.
I spent three years at Massey University in Palmerston North working towards becoming an Early childhood teacher. Just this year I graduated from the University with a Bachelor of Education (Teaching) The Early years (Birth-8 years old). Ever since I was a child I’ve always wanted to work with children, so becoming an Early Childhood teacher was the job for me. I’ve had experience working with various different age groups throughout my degree. I have worked in 3 schools, from new entrant to year three classrooms, and have been placed in 3 centres, varying from kindergarten to over and under 2’s.
I believe that children learn through play in an environment that is supportive and encouraging and allows them to learn from their mistakes. I believe in giving children opportunities to problem solve and make their own decisions as it can develop independence and internal motivation.
This is an important time in children’s lives, I look forward to working with and along side you and your children as they move through their early years of education and care.
Hi my name is Sophie, I completed my qualification in early childhood teaching in 2011 and have been working here at Chelsea house since then. I am currently working towards becoming a registered teacher.
I am originally from the UK but moved to New Zealand in 2007 and currently live here in Levin with my husband Tony and our 3 dogs!
My philosophy when working with children is strongly based around building respectful and reciprocal relationships with them in order for them to feel comfortable to learn and explore in their environment.
Originally from Australia, I have been in New Zealand and specifically in Levin for ages now. I raised my two girls in Levin and they have now gone on to build their careers. During their time at school I became involved in education and have since taught at early childhood, primary and tertiary levels.
I am a trained and fully registered primary teacher. Since 2003 I have also attained a certificate in business computing as well as a certificate in adult teaching.
I am an enthusiastic learner and continue to be involved in professional development. In between I dabble in learning NZ Sign Language, Maori and the Ukulele. I am also able to play the piano accordion (when I practise).
